I personally think that flowkey is a good start for learning the piano but it does come with a few disadvantages. I have been using Flowkey for self teaching piano. Very light gamificaiton: you do get XP and ranks for marking videos as completed, but nothing software enforced. If you just really love the idea of the software grading that you've pressed the right note at the right time, Pianote doesn't offer that, though. There's also new videos being produced every week as supplements to the course. Similar level of gamificaiton as Piano Marvel.Īlso keep in mind there are non-software options that would let you learn on your own time: Pianote is a similar subscription based model (with a lifetime membership options available occasionally) to a video course, and it has the added benefit of allowing you to submit videos of yourself playing and get actual feedback from a teacher, which is something the software approaches don't offer. What I like about them is that there's a very active Facebook community and PGS offers a lot of extra content on Youtube (including weekly livestreams) to supplement their lessons. Playground Sessions is a similar product: more focused on contemporary music than classical. There is no option for a lifetime membership, so if you really love it, you're constantly going to be paying.
It also gives you access to the SASR, a sight reading test, which is nice. Piano Marvel is a decent product - heavy focus on classical music, and as a plus, it includes the exercises and music from Alfred's All in One Adult Piano levels 1 and 2, which are very commonly used method books.
